The 4th via Nails

Well okay we may be slacking a bit in the posting lately.  Some information that we received, we have now changed the name of the blog to Painted Talons.  We also purchased some info cards with the new information and have more followers.

So now for the nails... These are my nails (Mel) and I had found this picture and decided that I would like to try it on my nails.  As always Cathy was right, I thought I could whip this out and not need any tools except the polish. Wrong... after some false attempts I finally busted out the dotting tools.  Below is what I came up... Have a happy 4th of July, please be safe.  I am hoping Cat will post her nails later this week.

Spots or Dots?

Today's nails were inspired by a post I found while surfing on Nail Polish Art Addiction, and the fact that Cat happened to get in some AWESOME dotting tools last week. This week we had to wait until after our Volleyball games to paint out nails - so we were both tired and I was glad that the only decision I had to make was what colors should I use.  For those that know me, you know that I am not into the soft, foofy, pastel colors - but lately I have been drawn to purples.  So for today I used:

I really like what we did here.  As always Cat was a big part of making this come to life.  She advised on colors, dotted, and helped me clean up my right hand (which is always hard).

Hope you enjoyed looking as much as I do wearing!

Fore!

Sorry for the hiatus. Cat and I took an Accounting class this past Spring and well that took most of time. Now that is over and we have had some time to play. University of Alaska Southeast Alumni has an annual golf tournament to raise funds for its operating budget (oops more accounting), and we had the opportunity to help out. What this meant is a fabulous boat ride to Haines, Alaska. Once there we headed to the most beautiful golf course.

We had a blast - and well of course we had to do nails for the occasion.

Cat did all of these freehand from a link we found.  She is amazing even though when we got to the golf course she was mad.  The flags on the holes where different colors not all yellow. FORE!!!

Back to the Basics

We started this blog after we bought our stamp kits and stamp we did.  Then Shellac came around - so easy and smooth. Gel nails were next and those were very cool too.  So when it was time to paint my nails again what should I do?  I decided to go back to the basics. Below is my fun with free-hand.  It had been a while since I had done any free hand so I went simple. I used 2 coats of OPI Radiance (silver) and then free handed the pink with a LA Arts thin stripping polish in pink.  The look was okay... but needed something.  So I added a black stripe to the pink.  LOVED IT.  Remember it doesn't  have to be complicated to be Nailed in Alaska!!!
